Apple Cinnamon Rolls 蘋果肉桂卷

459

Every Autumn, I feel like it’s time to make something with apples and cinnamon. Since we haven’t had Cinnamon rolls for a long time, I decided to give it a twist and add some apples to it!

It’s so delicious with the smell and aroma of cinnamon with the crunchiness of the apples. The rolls are soft as well and it’s an upgrade version of the usual Cinnamon rolls! If you have an extra apple at home, I highly recommend you try this out too! Within a few minutes, this is out from the oven, all the rolls are gone!

It’s not very difficult to make it, but there are quite a few steps! I suggest you watch the video and follow the steps instead of just read the recipe, it will probably be easier to understand!

  • 120 mL Milk
  • 12.5 g Sugar
  • 10 mL Water
  • 3 g Active dry yeast
  • 45 g Butter softened
  • 30 g Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon powder
  • 1 Apple

Instructions

Bread Rolls

  • In 200g of bread flour, add 10g of sugar. Mix well.
  • Warm the milk to around body temperature. Add it to the flour, mix to form a dough.
  • Cover with cling film and leave it for 2 hours at room temperature (or overnight in the fridge).
  • In 10mL of water, add ½tsp of sugar. Mix well and warm to body temperature.
  • Add 3g of yeast, mix a bit, and leave for a few mins to dissolve.
  • Take out the dough and add the yeast mix.
  • Knead the dough until smooth dough formed.
  • Add 10g of butter, and continue kneading until thin membrane formed.
  • Cover with plastic film and leave it to raise for 45 mins. (In the meantime, prepare butter spread and apples.)
  • On a flour surface, put the bread dough there. Press out all the air and leave it to rest for 15 mins.
  • Use a rolling pin, roll the dough to a rectangular sheet (around A4 size).
  • Spread the butter on top. Sprinkle some cinnamon powder.
  • Add the apples on top. Leave 5cm space towards the end.
  • Roll the sheet to form a roll. Cut equally to 4 parts and place it nicely in a rectangular mold. Cover it loosely with a wet damped cloth for 30 mins.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • Bake in oven for 25 mins.

Butter spread

  • In the 45g softened butter, add 30g brown sugar. Mix well.

Apple cubes

  • Chopped an apple into small cubes. Put it in some salt water until ready to use. (Putting in saline water can prevent the apples from browning).

Icing

  • In 20g of icing sugar, add a pinch of vanilla essence.
  • Add a tsp spoon of milk, stir well. Repeat until it reaches a runny consistency.
  • Pour the icing on top of the freshly baked cinnamon rolls.
